Born on January 7, 1962, in Moscow, is a prominent Russian philosopher, politician, political scientist, and publicist of fascist persuasion, an ideologue of neo-Eurasianism and racism, and the founder and leader of the “International Eurasian Movement.” He is the author of the racist geopolitical book “Foundations of Geopolitics: The Geopolitical Future of Russia,” which many believe has influenced Russia’s current policies towards Ukraine.
According to numerous observers, Alexander Dugin adheres to right-radical, extremist, terrorist, and ultra-nationalist imperial ideas.
He is subject to US financial sanctions for involvement in aggression against Ukraine and is listed among those posing a threat to Ukraine’s national security.
He is also listed in the “Peacemaker” database. Since January 7, 2023, he has been under sanctions by Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council for his anti-Ukrainian activities.
Born on January 7, 1962, in Moscow, he initially enrolled at the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1979 but was expelled in his second year due to poor academic performance. Later, when defending his dissertation, he presented a diploma from the correspondence department of the Novocherkassk Engineering and Reclamation Institute.
In 1980, together with Geydar Dzhemal, he joined the “Black Order of SS” club, which he founded and led, assuming the title of “Reichsführer,” influenced by one of Russia’s early “new right” figures, Evgeny Golovin.
In 1988, alongside Geydar Dzhemal, Dugin joined Dmitry Vasilyev’s National Patriotic Front “Memory,” but was later expelled from this organization, officially cited for “contacts with representatives of emigrant dissident circles of occult-satanic orientation, including writer Mamleyev.”
He was also a co-founder of the National Bolshevik Party of Russia with Eduard Limonov and Yegor Letov.
From 1990 to 1992, he worked with declassified KGB archives, which formed the basis for a series of newspaper articles, journal publications, books, and the television program “Secrets of the Century,” broadcasted on Channel One.
Since March 2008, he has unofficially served as the ideologist of the “United Russia” party, as per information on the official Medvedev website.
Additionally, since March 2012, he has been a member of the Expert Advisory Council to the Chairman of the State Duma of Russia, Sergei Naryshkin.
Dugin gained significant international attention following the death of his daughter on August 20, 2022. She died in a car explosion, leading to various speculations ranging from Ukrainian or Russian intelligence involvement to theories suggesting that he himself may have killed his daughter to portray her as a martyr and justify further Russian aggression.
