Danilchenko Galina Viktorovna, born on July 5, 1964, in Orlovo, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, is a Ukrainian political figure involved in regional governance and a collaborator. From 2000 to 2015, she held positions as an accountant and later as the director of the Melitopol Plain Bearings Plant. Since 2015, Danilchenko has been a member and then the secretary of the Melitopol City Council.
During the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022, following the occupation of Melitopol and the abduction of the legitimate mayor, Ivan Fedorov, Danilchenko was appointed by occupation authorities as the acting mayor of the city.
On March 13, 2022, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General, Iryna Venediktova, initiated an investigation against Danilchenko on charges of treason for attempting to establish an occupation government in Melitopol. In her statements, Danilchenko supported the Russian presence and urged the city’s population to cooperate with the occupiers, undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
On June 3, 2022, Danilchenko was added to the European Union sanctions list, and on June 27, 2022, to Canada’s sanctions list. Earlier, on March 24, 2022, she was sanctioned by the United Kingdom and is also under sanctions by the United States, Switzerland, Australia, Japan, Ukraine, and New Zealand.
