The creation of the sanitary zone is proceeding as planned. However, this is not in the Kharkiv region as intended by the Kremlin, Putin, and the General Staff, but rather in the Belgorod region, specifically in a 15-kilometer area along the border with Ukraine.
Things have escalated to the point where Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has instructed district heads in the region to visit residents’ homes daily within the 15-kilometer border zone and persuade people to leave. Major Kremlin sources are quoting him, presenting this as a concern for the people.
It is evident that Gladkov received orders from the highest level. Putin himself cannot just declare—leave your homes. After all, he is the great geostrategist.
As a result, the government that spoke of Russia’s greatness, of rising from its knees, and of the reliable protection of Russian territory, cannot ensure the safety of its own citizens.
Initially, the authorities stated that they would not send firefighters to settlements that are under daily shelling and where houses are burning. Then, they brought in fire suppression equipment in manual mode. However, the motor pumps for supplying water to extinguish fires are not designed for firefighting. They can’t even be placed near open flames, let alone be used to extinguish them.
Next, the authorities closed entry to 15 settlements along the border with Ukraine. Only the military will be there now, supposedly to protect people’s property, while under the guise of this protection, they engage in looting, as has been recorded multiple times and reported regularly on social media.
Now, people are being told to leave because the Russian army cannot protect them, and the operation to create a sanitary zone on enemy territory has completely failed. Yet, every other day, central television channels tell stories about how Russia will valiantly fight NATO.
Simultaneously, the government is not providing proper housing for those who have left. People are forced to live in refugee centers or go to relatives.
