We have long been told, and continue to be told, that Russia is an island of stability in the boundless ocean of global chaos. That we are the most protected country, where we can walk the streets at night without fear, and that we are completely safe from terrorism. We just need to quickly sort things out with Ukraine, confirm our greatness and the power of our special services, and then we will live as we did before.
We even mocked the US special services for failing to prevent the assassination attempt on Donald Trump.
But it turns out that everything in our country is far from cloudless. And with one phrase, the Prosecutor General of Russia shattered the myth of security from terrorists.
Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov admitted that the authorities and agencies were to blame for the terrorist attacks in “Crocus” and Dagestan, whose task was not only to counter terrorism but also to prevent terror before the blood of innocent victims was shed.
Krasnov stated that these terrorist acts “became possible due to the miscalculations of the authorized government bodies, which requires us to conduct checks and respond at a fundamentally different level in the field of countering terrorism.”
Let’s be honest, the special services blatantly missed the preparation for the terrorist attacks and failed to prevent them. There was no information from informants who, according to the logic of any special services, should work within potential terrorist circles. Or perhaps there was, but the special services somehow found the terrorist attack in Crocus beneficial. There could be many reasons, including a simple bribe for “turning a blind eye,” or the desire to tighten the screws even more later on. And there might be another reason why the terrorist attack in Crocus happened – to accuse Ukraine. The obvious motive here is that if Ukraine is labeled a terrorist, no one will provide it with weapons. For such a strategic goal as stopping arms supplies, the loss of a large number of one’s own citizens is not a price at all.
However, no one in the world believes in this version of Ukraine’s involvement. Except for perhaps our proud but poor ally – North Korea.
