Reports from the Chelyabinsk Region resemble scenes from a disaster movie about flooding.
Heavy rains in the Chelyabinsk Region have led to severe flooding throughout the area:
A state of emergency has been declared in Sosnovsky, Ektulsky, and Karabashsky districts, and it looks like the same will happen in Emanzhelinsk, Kyshtym, and Kopeysk. In the village of Ozerovka near Magnitogorsk, local residents’ homes were surrounded by a stream of water.
While the residents of the region are saving themselves from the floods, the wife of the local governor is singing patriotic songs at the “Russian Field” festival.
Irina Tekser could have at least expressed support for the people. But no, she continued her participation in the festival as if nothing had happened.
“Russians are not afraid of any bad weather, any rain,” – a statement from a patriotic video by the region’s first lady just a few hours before the destruction of the Kialim Reservoir dam. And then suddenly the heavens opened up, and the dam, which had not been repaired for the last 12 years, could not withstand the water flow and broke.
While Irina Tekser sang and participated in the festival, volunteers organized distribution points for humanitarian aid to those affected by the flooding.
And what about the governor himself? He has realized that such a failure, like the dam’s destruction and the resulting flood, could bring repercussions from the Kremlin. Especially since the unrepaired dam is the governor’s responsibility. He needs to create the illusion that everything is under control. Therefore, Alexey Tekser traveled to the flooded settlements, now promising some help to the people and assuring them that the dam will be restored.
Those who were aware of the dam’s condition knew there were serious issues with its structure and that it needed urgent repairs. But none of the officials did anything. Now they have suddenly become alert and have promised to heroically deal with the consequences under patriotic songs at the festival.
