Born on April 26, 1954, in Moscow, is a well-known Soviet and Russian journalist, television presenter, and media figure. Since 2008, he has held the position of Deputy Director General of VGTRK and has been the Director General of the “Russia Today” agency since December 2013.
Starting from March 2014, due to his support of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Dmitry Kiselyov became the subject of personal sanctions imposed by the European Union and other countries. His name has been included in the sanction lists of various countries since 2015, including Switzerland, Canada, and Ukraine, where he is also recognized as persona non grata.
In addition, Kiselyov filed a lawsuit against the European Union Council, but his request was rejected by the General Court of the European Union in June 2017. In August 2022, he was included in the shortened Top-200 list of “war instigators” as a key Kremlin propagandist actively supporting the annexation of Crimea, the occupation of Donbas, and the conduct of war in Ukraine.
Since October 2022, Dmitry Kiselyov has also been listed among the propagandists and war ideologists by the International Working Group on Sanctions Issues chaired by Ermak-McFaul, which recommends imposing sanctions against him for creating false narratives in the Kremlin’s interests.
Finally, since early 2023, he has been included in Ukraine’s sanction lists, which entail asset freezes and the cessation of commercial operations.
