Samatov Timur Ilgizovich

Samatov Timur Ilgizovich (born April 4, 1992, in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan, RF) is a Russian war criminal and political figure, serving as the Minister of Industry and Trade of the terrorist organization lnr since 2022. He openly supports the invasion of Ukraine.

From 2013 to 2016, he held the position of leading specialist-expert in the Military-Technical and International Cooperation Department of the Aviation Industry Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

In 2016, he was the chief specialist-expert in the same department.
Before his appointment as Minister of Industry and Trade of the LPR, he served as Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan.

He is among the appointees from the Volga region, where the former First Deputy Head of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, S. V. Kiriyenko, who oversees the self-proclaimed republics in the occupied territories of Ukraine, previously worked for a long time.

He is under international sanctions from the European Union and several other countries:

On September 26, 2022, amid Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the UK government imposed sanctions on Samатов as a Russian official whose actions threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty, or independence of Ukraine by participating in the organization of a fictitious referendum in the LPR.
On September 29, 2022, he was included in Canada’s sanctions list against high-ranking officials in the territories occupied by Russia for facilitating and supporting the fictitious referendums of president Putin.

On December 16, 2022, he was added to the EU sanctions list for supporting and implementing policies that undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence of Ukraine, as he participates in separatist activities and is responsible for organizing a referendum on the accession of Luhansk to Russia within the so-called government of the illegally annexed Luhansk region.

He is also under sanctions from Switzerland, New Zealand, and Japan on similar grounds.
